[ 13 is ready, but those precious three minutes can help them. He wants to give the boy more time to rest, and it allows the light drink he had to fully settle before he clamps a hand down on the top of the booth seat and rises. ]
Let's go.
[ He reckons "act natural" is a given. A handful of military soldiers pass the entrance of the bar in a paced dash. 13 gives them a brief glance on his way to the motorcycle. No one's going to look at them a second time, either, if they don't freak out. ]
[ Ah, then he'll get up and follow him once he's prompted to. He understands just fine that he should be acting natural, but when he notices the soldiers pass by, it's hard to keep his breath from hitching and his hands from shaking a little. So he'll put them in his pockets (please, calm down, hands). Seeing them like that, he realizes again what's at stake for him.
He'll be as quiet as possible, though, behind 13 as he leads him to the motorcycle. (Even if he doesn't feel quiet — knowing the soldiers are close-by makes it hard to remain as calm as he wants to. His heart feels like it might beat out of his chest.) ]
[ Before their ride, 13 motions Aiden to the motorcycle. ]
Here.
[ You first. 13 will get on afterward and start up the same way he had in the base.
Between their fairly casual display and the small clusters of people walking by, they've blended in well enough thus far. If Aiden doesn't somehow trip over himself, they should be fine. The soldiers aren't even looking their way. ]
[ Wow, he won't trip over himself right now!! He's just nervous, okay. But he's trying not to be outwardly nervous.
So he'll get on the motorcycle when he's motioned to, quietly. And when 13 gets on afterward, he'll spend a moment wondering whether he should hold onto him again, before ... deciding he will faintly hold onto the sides of his shirt, okay. Just for the beginning, okay! So he can get used to the speed again. Okay. ]
it's me laughing and shaking my head at my bad joke
[ From the way his shirt pulls around his sides, 13 can guess at the boy's plan. Although the brief chuckle that follows is soundless, the exhalation of breath is clearly audible while he overlays a hand on the panel in front of him.
This boy doesn't trust anything. Not even the back seat.
The motorcycle hums to life, and they take off at a similar acceleration to before. This time, 13 takes a different route to the base, in one part to avoid the marching soldiers and in another to approach from another direction. ]
you mean your fantastic joke that deserves praise and love
[ You can't expect him to trust anything when he's constantly being taught that nothing can be trusted! At least he's got some bit of it in 13 now, as much as he wouldn't want to admit it — though he wouldn't be coming with him like this if he didn't. He's far softer than Elise could ever be. Situations and where he puts his trust come out far differently when he's the only one making the decisions, apparently.
But, wow — he hears the way he exhales! R-Rude. Just going to scoff a little, but ... not let go. Especially when they're moving. Sob. ]
[ The ride is smooth, if perhaps a tad rushed in feeling due to 13's desire for swiftness. Unlike the first time, he swerves around and comes into the base from the side rather than the front, where a tall wall cuts them off from the interior.
Parking in a somewhat tucked away spot, 13 settles the motorcycle onto the ground. As he slides off his seat, he turns his attention to the wall. If he recalls correctly (and he surely has), there's a hole in security here – just enough space to scale the wall, past the barbed wires at the top. ]
We're here. How well do you climb?
LMFAO CHOKES ... don't worry jaejae i love you and your bad jokes
[ Then he'll get off the motorcycle after him, and quietly turn his attention to the wall and their surroundings. He might seem a little nervous and highly on guard — checking every direction before he looks back at the wall.
That question can only mean one thing. Ahh. A bit of shock, here. ]
You're — You're planning on climbing that? [ A-And Aiden has to, too? ]
I — well, I mean — I'm not the best at it ...
[ This is code for he doesn't want to admit it but physical activities are not quite his thing. Is there not an easier way to do this, 13. ]
[ 13 takes that to be more a sign of modesty in that boyish way, which is fitting. Well, it's a good thing that he doesn't require much in the way of prior experience.
Crouching, 13 ghosts a hand across the wall in search for nicks. The wall is quite old; age and environmental effects have withered away its integrity. When he finds a suitable notch, he straightens, bends his knee, and digs the tip of his boot into it. He presses down, testing the foothold, and reaches up to find more nicks for his hands. ]
You don't have to be. Follow my steps.
[ He kicks off, then steps into a second groove – this one much smaller – with his other foot. They're going climb this the old-fashioned way. A simple kick augmented with his charm should have been sufficient, but 4's words are constantly nagging him in the back of his mind, and the boy can't well do the same thing. ]
[ Well, with a mental sigh, Aiden doesn't believe he's really got much of a choice here. He's going to have to ... attempt to climb the wall. If he follows in 13's steps carefully, it shouldn't be too hard, right ...?
So he'll watch him carefully, trying to remember where he's placing his feet ... ]
A-Alright. Just ... don't do anything too difficult, then.
[ Please have mercy on him and his physical capabilities. This means no ridiculously large gaps between footholds and things. ]
[ Between their differences in height and his very different idea of what constitutes easy, 13's path of choice may be just a tad rocky for Aidan. Still, it's nothing Aidan shouldn't be able to do. Sometimes the gaps take a challenging turn, but they're not impossible to reach, and the grooves are almost always deep enough.
At last, near the end of the wall, 13 reaches out to the side to avoid a tangle of electric wires. There's a small gap at the top, too compact to squeeze between but large enough to rest a foot on to scale the wall. With his hand, he presses down on the gap and jumps up – and looks like he's all but floating in the air before he descends on the same spot with his foot, the picture of swift grace.
He glances down and over his shoulders to where Aidan is, gauging the boy's progress. ]
[ While Aiden is ... capable of following in 13's footsteps, that doesn't mean it isn't difficult for him. He takes significantly slower movements and there's a lot of parts where he's hesitant to even try to make it to the next groove in the wall. But he manages — somehow. He's going at least twice as slowly, though.
He's distracted when he looks up and notices 13's ridiculous grace in landing so perfectly; his distraction almost ends up costing him all the progress he's made on the wall, as he slips because of it. Not enough to fall, but enough for his heart to fall into his stomach and one of his feet to lose its footing.
And of course for him to yelp all of a sudden. And promptly be embarrassed afterwards. Nothing happened, okay. Just let him move his foot back into the grove and act like he's fine. ]
[ Sure, nothing happened. At the very least, 13 doesn't comment on Aiden's slip, and there's no change in his neutral expression. At the most, he turns his head forward toward the base to confirm that nobody's heard the yelp and come running. Looking back over his shoulder, he watches for a little longer. ]
Can you make it to the top on your own?
[ It's a genuine question, not a dig at Aiden's clumsy abilities. 13 needs to know if he can jump down to the other side and leave Aiden be, or if he should extend a helping hand to pull up the boy. ]
[ Well. Aiden sort of feels like that's a dig at his clumsy abilities, and while he'd like to just be stubborn and tell him he doesn't need any help and can make it to the top just fine, he ... kind of doesn't believe he can make it on his own. He's not sure he can pull off the same amount of grace as 13 has to get to the top. But. How to word this.
Mmnn. ]
Well — I think it'd go faster if you lent me a hand.
[ SEE HE'S NOT ADMITTING HE CAN'T MAKE IT. Just saying. It'd be faster if he had help. This way, his pride isn't completely crushed and he can also still get help. Yeah! ]
[ Couldn't have phrased it better. 13 doesn't think twice. He turns on his heels to crouch in Aiden's direction, and then leans over to offer a hand. ]
Here.
[ The second it's accepted, he'll curl his fingers around Aiden's wrist and pull. Aiden's weight shouldn't be much of an issue. ]
[ Well, he'll reach his hand out as quickly and carefully as possible. He's a little surprised at 13 grabbing his wrist rather than his hand, though. ]
[ The wrist is a far less painful choice for the one being pulled. Once Aiden's up and secure on the tiny opening at the top of the wall, 13 rises from his stooped position to give them both room – not that he's going to be here for very long. ]
You're welcome. Be careful coming down.
[ Apparently those cautionary words don't apply to himself, because 13 hops off and lands on both feet in a crouch. He straightens again and looks up, watching Aiden. ]
Aiden is especially not okay with this plan. Just jumping from such a high place is not a good plan for getting down from it. Nope. 13 might be weirdly superhuman but Aiden certainly is not. He is a tiny normal kid. Sob. So he's going to watch him in awe before ... stopping himself from yelling down at him. He almost does it, before realizing they're supposed to be stealthily breaking in here. Guuuh.
So it's more of a lowkey yell-whisper. ]
Wh-What are you doing?! H-How am I supposed to follow that?!
[ Right, Aiden's not so adventurous, and his body probably can't take that level of impact without pain. 13 takes a few steps to the side, leading Aiden's attention to the patches of grass lined against the wall.
It's unwise to speak at all in enemy territory, but communicating himself is much faster and more efficient with someone that was never part of his team. ]
If you're jumping, try the grass. Otherwise, you can climb down how you climbed up.
[ Hhhh, he's not even sure if he can handle landing in the grass. So, with a huff, he's going to carefully maneuver himself so that he can climb down, though he'll climb down directly above where the grass is ... just in case he falls.
Which, about halfway down, he will. Luckily, the drop isn't so steep once he's halfway down, so it won't matter much, but his fall into the grass won't be particularly graceful. ]
[ And he says that with no trace of sarcasm. Aiden did his best, didn't he? But he doesn't stay on that subject for long.
Hidden behind a strategically placed tree and some bushes around it, 13 leans out to watch their currently emptying surroundings. Let's see – he should probably go that way. ]
[ ... Ah. 13 wants to leave him alone already? Aiden is ... not entirely sure he can make it on his own this early into their breaking in. 13 saw how horribly he scaled that wall — now imagine him trying to sneak around and not get caught by the many people who would be able to overpower him within seconds. Um. That would go even worse than the wall. ]
... So soon? [ Agh, that makes him feel pathetic to ask like that though. Ahhh. ] I mean, we're barely inside, and we could stick together a little longer ...
[ Please don't leave him already he'll have a panic attack. ]
I said I was going to take you inside. What you do doesn't concern me.
[ He doesn't say that callously, but in the factual sense that what he and Aiden are respectively after more than likely has nothing to do with each other. Although he can sense that Aiden seems hesitant about splitting "so soon," and that halts 13 in his tracks for the moment. ]
Y-Yeah, but — maybe we both have to go in the same direction! Then it'd be weird for us to split up, right?
[ To tell the truth, he never really had enough time to get a feel for this place while he was here the first time anyway. So he's nooot entirely sure if he knows what direction he should be going, so. Yep. Please just let him stick with you. ]
With Aiden being so insistent, 13 doesn't care to argue. He cocks his head before stepping aside to give Aiden a larger view of the base surrounding them. Indeed, it's be weird to split up, only to walk the same path. ]
you mean . . . we've got our beds covered. ba dum tsh
Let's go.
